Reaching Jim Corbett National Park

About Jim Corbett National Park

The Nainital district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand is home to Jim Corbett National Park. As the country’s first national park, it was created in 1936 during the British Raj and given the name Hailey National Park in honor of William Malcolm Hailey, the United Provinces’ governor at the time. It was renamed Corbett National Park in 1956, over ten years after India gained independence, in honor of the hunter and naturalist Jim Corbett, who had been instrumental in its founding and had passed away the year before. The Project Tiger initiative’s original location was the park.

In addition to the aforementioned, Corbett is a paradise for lovers of wildlife. Under its belly, it is home to a variety of animal species, including the Indian Leopard, Sloth Bear, Deer, Crocodiles, Gharials, King Cobras, and many more. There is another factor that makes Corbett the ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts besides the wildlife.

Here, in the Dhikala Zone, you have the chance to stay in a 100-year-old forest rest house inside a national park. This specific tiger safari area features a variety of scenery in addition to having the highest annual tiger sighting rate. You will see elephants grazing in the grasslands as you pass through dry river beds, travel beneath dense Sal tree canopies, and catch a glimpse of a tiger attempting to cross the Ramganga river. To put it mildly, everything here is picture-perfect.
